This is my fall maze that I created for Thanksgiving. This maze honors the beloved North American Turkey.
Although it’s not true that Benjamin Franklin wanted the turkey to be the National Bird it’s no wonder why he defended this genuine American beauty.
This maze was created in a 5.5 x 8.5 inch format. Please print the image in it’s actual size (5.5″ x 8.5″) for best results.
All of my mazes start out as a pencil sketch and are then filled in with marker. The lettering on this maze was created with the computer and I tried to incorporate the “fact” chart into the maze itself.
This maze is a continued experiment with color and patterns. If you look at the feathers there are three different patterns. I was testing what pattern provided the best coverage for color. This is also the first maze where I utilized a cross-hatch pattern for the background color. I am going to continue to experiment with this cross-hatch technique because it’ll allow me to get away from the typical “squiggly” maze pattern.
Below is a time-lapse video I filmed while drawing the maze. It gives you a good idea how I create the mazes and fill the pattern in organically.
